Dolphin Tour
The tour starts after breakfast when you are picked up from your hotel and transferred to the fishing village of Kizimkazi. Before the tour begins, you will be given a life jacket demonstration followed by a briefing on the day's excursion. You will then board the dhows and set off in search of dolphins (85% chance). Species frequently encountered in Menai Bay are spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins.
Snorkeling
We offer excursions to the blue lagoon and Mnemba Island for snorkeling. The Blue Lagoon is a spectacular, easily accessible reef with beautiful colorful fish and corals that has a high population of starfish around it. It is located in the south of Michamvi, near The Rock restaurant and it takes 30 minutes by car from Nest Style Zanzibar. The most famous dive site in Zanzibar is the beautiful Mnemba Marine Reserve. There are about three different dive sites. The area is well known for its fish life and you can expect to see lionfish, moray eels, manta rays and turtles swimming in the shallow waters. Venturing further out, the reef goes into a large wall where you will see emperor fish, yellow snapper, barracuda and, if you are lucky, humphead wrasse and turtles.
Spice Tour
Zanzibar spices are world famous and a Zanzibar vacation would be incomplete without a visit to the spice plantations. The spice tour is probably the best way to see the countryside and meet members of rural communities. The geographical nature of the island means that the spice tour is organized in many villages in both Unguja and Pemba. However, the most popular town for the spice tour is Kijichi or Kizimbani, approximately 5 kilometers from Stone Town. You will be overwhelmed by the abundance of botanical species growing in these gardens: exotic spices, fruits and vegetables. Many of the spices have medicinal properties and are still used by the local population to cure certain diseases.
Jozani Forest
Jozani Forest is located in the center of Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, 38 km southeast of Stone Town. The forest is a great place to find many native varieties of flora and fauna, including the Zanzibar red colobus monkey. Other species you may see include Blue Sykes monkeys, bush pigs, Aders Duiker antelopes, elephant shrews, chameleons and numerous birds and butterflies. Jozani has an excellent nature trail and the guides are well trained and informative. A walk through this impressive flora and fauna is one of the highlights that Zanzibar has to offer. In Jozani, you will also visit the mangrove swamp and walk around the mangrove forest.
Stone Town
Stone Town is the cultural heart of the island and the old town of Zanzibar, located on the west coast. The city owes its name to the many large, multi-story stone buildings that form the landscape of the old part of the city. From its winding alleys to the grand facades of the Palace of Wonders and the imposing structure of the Old Fort, Stone Town is a bustling city that is alive with multiple cultures living their lives in this UNESCO World Heritage City.
Prison Island
Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, is located just off Old Stone Town, about 30 minutes by boat from Stone Town. Changuu Island was used as a penitentiary for rebellious slaves by the sultans from the 1860s until the end of the slave trade. After which the British began to build a prison on the island under the direction of the first governor, Lloyd Matthews. You will be able to see giant turtles, beautiful sea creatures, coral reefs and it is also a great place for snorkeling. Once on the island, you have the opportunity to feed and pet the turtles, some of which are over a hundred years old. If you have time, you can also take a walk through the forested interior where you will see a great variety of birds, colorful peacocks, bats and beautiful butterflies. Keep your eyes peeled for shy and elusive Duikers, a tiny and unusual species of antelope.
Safari Blue
Safari Blue is definitely an experience to remember. Snorkel in beautiful waters, visit a white sand beach, enjoy a delicious local Zanzibar lunch and visit the mangroves. A blue safari takes place in Menai Bay. Menai Bay is dotted with isolated sandbanks, rugged island landscapes, uninhabited islets, pristine marine life and crystal clear turquoise waters. It contains extensive species of tropical fish, sea grasses, coral reefs and several small islets that support the mangrove forest. The aquatic life within these waters is usually very prolific and moray eels, scorpion fish, lion fish, large groupers, octopus, lobsters, rays and, occasionally, manta rays and dolphins are commonly seen. Safari Blue's activities include sailing, diving, swimming, sunbathing, exploring, partying and observing.
